It had been on my mind for a while to get around to beefing up several of my existing forces for the likes of Dragon Rampant, HotT or possibly giving Kings of War a go in 15mm. Then the ever-charming John over at the Facebook Group 15mm Fantasy Gaming came up with the DR Painting challenge. I’ve already forgotten the terms of the challenge but it has spurred me on a little.
So first up, the High Elves. I was lacking both heavy cavalry and some bowmen. Still need to add more light cavalry at some point.
These Heavy Cavalry are from Alternative Armies (hi Gavin!).

Off the back of the Conan undead I painted up I decided to finally dust off these Men of Dunharrow – Army of the Dead – from Games Workshop’s LotR range. Added together with the Conan minis these make for a decent selection of Undead.
Clearly I chose not to go for the more ghost-like ethereal look normally associated with these miniatures and painted them to tie in with the Conan ones from the last post.
A while back I was dipping in to painting up some more of the fine miniatures from the Conan Board Game from Monolith/Mythic. I though I’d select some of the undead troops and characters in case they proved useful as double duty in some other skirmishy/warband game.
This first one is an odd sculpt and I’m not that keen on it but it does look a bit better once painted. Continue reading Rise of the Undead: Conan the Board Game
Many moons ago I had the pleasure of joining Tim and a host of other gamers at the Falkirk District Wargames Club for what was a rip-roaring and hilariously fun game of Faustus Furius;
“Faustus Furius is a fast and furious, tongue in cheek
table-top racing game based very loosely around the
chariot races of the ancient world and adaptable to
any racing situation.
Designed for 2-8 participants, it allows players to pit
chariots from any culture or period against one
another in a no-holds-barred race to fame and glory.”
Not too long after I decided to paint up a few fantasy based chariots that would compliment those I already had in various armies or collections. The aim was to have a enough races and types to provide for a large game. As I’ve not been able to make the club in a long time nothing has come of this as yet, but here in the wings are the competitors. All 15mm except the Snotling Pumpwagon which is scale neutral if you look at it the right way 😉
Option for the Orcs and Elves to run as teams could be an interesting play. Demonworld Thain Chariot Ral Partha High Elf Chariots (OOP I think) Continue reading A fantastical take on Faustus Furius chariot racing
Recording progress on Zombicide Black Plague – I have been working through the mound of plastic that is Zombicide Black Plague. I’ve not photographed everything yet but the Base Set is completed as well as most of the stretch goal survivors and a few of the extra monsters. One guest box done with a couple more still in the box. I sold on Wulfsberg so I don’t have the burden of that to paint! Which is just as well as I’ve also been painting up Mythic Battles: Pantheon (just completed the base set – photos to follow at some point). Work on Conan has stalled a bit as a result. And I nearly cried when Rising Sun arrived (miniatures look amazing). Green Horde was sold on immediately!
More over, my son and I have been playing the game! Several times now with varying degrees of success. Looks great with painted miniatures and the gameplay is simple and quick. Much less challenging that MB:P

Continuing with the re-balance of fantasy vs sci-fi on this blog I present to you some Rebel Minis “Sahadeen” forces. It will come as no surprise that the desert style troops would also happily fit in to a barren post apocalyptic setting as well – it is not a coincidence.
2 squads of 8 should be plenty for the types of games I like.
And all together now…Happy gaming, be it post apoc, sci-fi or whatever takes your fancy.
