As mentioned in a post sometime back, these centaurs have been sitting waiting for attention for quite some time. Finally I got round to painting them up for SoBH or larger affairs (copy of God of Battles from Foundry arrived this morning, currently half price).
They are a mix of Demonworld, Splintered Light and I think a couple of old Ral Partha. Whilst more “heroic” in scale, the Demonword ones hit the mark for me. I have duplicates if anyone wants to trade.
I wish, I wish, I wish, Mark Copplestone would do more 15mm Fantasy. I’ve already posted some of his Barbarians on foot painted up. Here are a couple of mounted characters. The first not painted yet (or caught in a snow storm), but may help a TMP’er find a suitable mini for his project. The Bear rider is part of the same set.
Yet another project on the slow burner is a Pirate centred game. I have a stack ready to paint and added a few fantasy elements to make the thing more ‘me’. Also converted a couple of Megablok pirate ships to work with 15mm (or 28mm if needed). More on those later. (I started with two ships that used to be my son’s, gathering dust in the attic – before I’d finished three more were purchased off eBay. No, I never learn).
So I thought it high time I actually painted some of the jolly rogers. For some reason I see the whole thing as a multiplayer game so split my collection in to ‘balanced’ groups of around 8 men each with the intent of painting with a unified, but ‘not in your face’ colour scheme. Go team pirate!
This first crew got dark green and crimson.
For the life of me I’m trying to get my camera to give better field of depth but am failing. I will try and get better at pics. I have set up this ‘stage’ though. Think it works.
Many moons ago I dabbled with Warmaster from the Evil Empire. Some of the miniatures were amazing but having already invested in 15mm Fantasy I wasn’t about to throw my lot in with buying 10mm armies.
However these guys, along with some trolls, grabbed my attention. Brilliant sculpts and full of character. Again, they sat under-coated white for many years. More recently I came across this paint job on Cool Mini or Not and was inspired. “Must paint” kept coming to me as I tried to get to sleep at night.
Although 10mm, next to 15mm they stand as a band of rather ugly human thugs. Which is what they will be in SOBH. That and a boarding party for my planned Fantastical Piratical project (converted Megablok Pirate Ships, etc).
These fellas have been sitting in my to-do-box for a very very long time. I can’t count the number of times I’ve said to myself, “You must paint these – they will look great”. Well, despite the huge pile of lead fighting for attention I finally did commit.
I really do need to brush up on my photography skills though. Clearly the field of depth is off (despite adding a bit of drama).
Miniature figure collector and painter (in that order) and solo wargamer whose opponent has lost his gaming mojo
