A visit to Nottingham back in 2016 involved a trip to both Games Workshop and Wargames Foundry. Due to my lack of investment in the current GW offerings (LotR aside) it was Foundry that got my money.
I picked up a few bits and bobs including this guy, part of what was a new range for them – Warmonger. This is one of the Ogre/Great Orc Character models – General Snartharang. Really big and really detailed. So when I was looking for a more challenging mini to paint I opted for him. I may have gone OTT on the colours but hey, orcs are allowed to enjoy fashion too!
A post with two purposes I guess. One a further nod to Battle Valor. Presented below is their human NPC character pack which, as you can see, has quite a good range of useful humans to populate your fantasy world.
Secondly was to highlight a new offering from Thierry Ponsenard (Khardin on the 15mm Fantasy Facebook page) who has produced his first two sets of 15mm fantasy miniatures – his new site and the miniatures can be found here – Khadrin’s Miniatures. He has basically got off his butt and done what so many of us would like to do ourselves. So kudos to him. My two sets arrived last week and they are very finely detailed and well cast minis.
The reason I mention BV and Khadrin together is obviously the NPC theme of non-combatants for your table. BV would appear to have human’s pretty well covered and now Khadrin adds colourful orcs and elves. He is currently mulling over “what next” so I thought the pics of the painted BV humans might be helpful.
First off, the Battle Valour minis;

I’ve enjoyed painting up quite a host of the ‘plastic playing pieces’ that I got with Zombicide Black Plague (see related posts). As I’ve mentioned on various posts the quality of the miniatures included with this type of board game has come on in leaps and bounds in the recent past and Conan the Board Game is no exception.
The KS pledge turned up last year but I’ve been a bit slower in tackling the miniatures (still working on the ZBP stuff too). But I thought I should at least paint up the main characters from the core box below. Far less cartoony than the ZBP counterparts, they will easily do double-duty in other Fantasy systems/settings.
First up, Conan himself of course. Continue reading Forget lead piles, it’s the plastic ones that are taking over: Conan the Board Game
Linking on from my last post on one of may favourite 15mm fantasy ranges (Demonworld from Ral Partha Europe) here is a large warband of Beastmen. After the barbarian/celtic themed minis they produce I think these are some of my favourite sculpts from the range – loads of detail, character and pose options.
This band is partly composed from the Blighthaven skirmish pack and a number other singles from the ‘humanoid’ size beastmen. Quite a few ‘larger’ beastmen to follow (some day).

Just a few more characters from Battle Valor following up on my recent post. As I said before, a great range and the personality packs will make any 15mm skirmisher quite happy.
