WIP for the New Year: The 28mm Bubble Bursts

I thought a little hobby update for the end of the year – which was a couple of days ago now.

The 28mm bubble has truly burst wide open. If I’m not careful I’ll inundate myself with so much new lead that I’ll be turned off the scale again!

In the last couple of months I’ve jumped on (belatedly) to another KS, made a couple of eBay ‘bargain’ buys and bought new stuff from retailers. Continue reading WIP for the New Year: The 28mm Bubble Bursts

Out with the Bikini: Splintered Light 15mm Viking Shield Maidens

I’m no prude and will not come down on you like a tonne of bricks if you choose to field regiments of scantily clad Amazonian warriors or seductive demonettes.

However, I do admire those that ‘resist’ the fantastical and impractical when the temptation (and sales?) could sway them otherwise. Such is the case with Splintered Light Miniatures 15mm Viking Shield Maidens. No doubt inspired by a popular TV show of a Viking persuasion I think these ladies would do very well in any Dark Age or Fantasy setting. Kudos to David at SLM. Oh, and nice miniatures to boot. Mini Randomness: Spring Cleaning the Media Library

I was just scanning the Media Library and there a few pictures in there to post that didn’t really have enough clout to justify their own dedicated post so I thought I’d do a bit of a random medley just to get them online. Apart from the 15mm there is little theme going on here…

A Reptilian Gladiator type from Splintered Light (I think). I was between some ‘unit batch’ painting and wanted a break so pulled this fellow of the ‘ready to paint’ shelf (I’ve a lot of those). Continue reading Mini Randomness: Spring Cleaning the Media Library

In the Sandpit: Playing with scales and mini sources.

I was in one of those moods where I just fancied painting a few random miniatures and testers. I had a few barbarians to do – Copplestone, Splintered Light and TTG I think (the rubbish female – I wondered if paint would resurrect an otherwise underwhelming miniature – it didn’t).

Also pulled off the shelf were some ‘experiments’. A Reaper Bones warrior, a trio of Egyptian undead from the Age of Mythology board game and a demon from some other board game which I forget the name of at the moment (I don’t have that or AoM, figures bought as sprues). Also a repaint of a toy from my son’s more youthful days. I thought it would make an interesting creature. Remain a bit too cartoon like for my tastes though.. Gamer Confession: Burrows and Badgers; adding to the Lead Pile

Last night my daughter (Alex, 14) came in to some ‘pocket money’ and started to talk about how she was going to dash out and spend it on some clothes she had been eyeing up. Being the diligent and responsible (ha!) father I started to talk about ‘saving’ and ‘did she really ‘need’ those clothes?’ Continue reading Gamer Confession: Burrows and Badgers; adding to the Lead Pile
